I see people talk about price gouging often, I’m not gonna say either way but here is a weekly price sheet I get from a distributor. Left picture 7/9/24 right picture 12/10/23.

Feeder cattle are around 2.50 right now on the market, this price along with the supply of finished animals being at a low point is what is causing these prices to increase. As long as corn doesn’t go through the roof the price should stay stable for a little while. If drought conditions happen (here in Wisconsin it has been nonstop rain) you could see the corn prices increase and cause beef prices to soar.

From a seasonal perspective it is correct on the beef prices. Grinds, NY and “grilling” cuts go up in the summer. The “fancy” cuts are cheaper and some by a good amount on your sheets, just look at PSMO’s.

  3. Kind of want to know where you are, because I run a meat distribution company and you’re getting hosed by about 20 cents on most things.

  4. Yeah that’s what happens when you print 20 Trillion dollars out of thin air in 4 years.
