let’s see what we can Harvest from the garden first up is my basil and I like to cut the main stem right above a set of leaves to encourage the plant to grow outwards and get bushy I have basil planted on the border my tomato beds for pest control and so far they’re really doing their job because I’ve had no pest issues yet this is my first time harvesting basil this summer and I’m kind of in shock by how much I’m getting and I can’t wait to use it when I can up pasta sauce later this summer next is cilantro and it is starting to bolt here in Michigan so I’m making sure to harvest as much as I can and as often as I can and store it in the freezer until I’m ready to use it and salsa later this summer it would not be a summer Harvest without peppers and with over 60 plants growing I am able to harvest about a bowl a week right now most of the peppers are getting pickled and enjoyed fresh but once my tomatoes and tomatillos are ready I’ll be canning lots of salsa jalapenos and banana peppers are the highest producers for me but I did get my first cayenne pepper this week I’m excited to try and make homemade hot sauce this summer using these last is the shidos and they have become a great snack either pickled or grilled I absolutely love growing peppers look at this whole Bowl I’m so thankful for my garden

I remember my aunt would plant both Basil and Marigolds around her tomatoes to keep bugs away.
No pest? I seen all those basil leaves eaten up. I don’t blame them either. Basil is delicious.
I never liked peppers as a kid, but once I started growing my own I was more willing to try them and now I am obsessed! lol
