I tried Cello’s last night for the first time since they reopened after Funzi’s closed. Contrary to the couple of posts of I’ve seen on here saying it’s great, I would say it’s just ok. It it’s definitely not as good as it was as Funzi’s. The recipes are similar but corners are cut, as you can see in the pictures comparing the same slices from Funzi’s (first pic is Cello’s, second is Funzi’s). Given that the East Village has pretty terrible slice place options, it’s one of the better slice options, but man I miss Funzi’s.

Totally agree, but I actually had a slice at Funzi’s right before they closed (wanna say Nov) that was basically the same reduced level as Cello’s. It’s a shame cause the opening quality level there was outstanding!

That’s too bad, Funzi’s was such a good addition to the neighborhood

I came in with pretty low expectations, but was decently surprised tbh. I feel like the East Village is sort of lacking in good pizza, especially ever since Sauce changed their recipe (they’ve since closed).

I went this past weekend. Had the pep slice. Ok. Crust was dry and a little hard for me.
