At the beginning of 2020 there was a big gardening boom. That’s cooled now that things looked to be normal. To me to, the last 4 years have been anything but normal. The next year and a half may become difficult. If you’re not growing some food, I pray you begin to. Follow us to learn about gardening and preserving!

  1. Great video and discussion as always. We have NOT stopped gardening. If anything, we've ramped things up. We had a setback when we went on a 10-day vacation. I asked 3 neighbors to come over and pick what was ready. They only came over once each. So, my pole green beans decided they were done. We cut them and put more seed in the ground. Then I ramped up filling every empty space with bush green beans. Never Stop Planting!!!

  2. We moved to “southern” Idaho in February of last year and bought a house earlier this year and the price of a loaf of bread at Walmart is almost $6.00 a loaf!

So, trying to see what will grow here, what we can save and such. Nothing but a dehydrator and a small freezer… BUT GOD!!

Well, in our new home have some things started by the previous owners which help. So we can help others.

Gas.. was almost $6.00 a gallon now just under $4.
We don’t drink milk but buy it occasionally for cereal.

  3. Hey Jill! It is a GLORIOUS comfortable day here in Northeast Texas! My hopes for a container garden went bust this spring. Added Health issues that got worse. Going to California for the first 2 weeks of August. Definitely looking at a fall garden of some type. Also looking at options from local growers.
I’m just acting like every year is going to be another Dumpster Fire… until Jesus calls me Home. I will be Prepping accordingly. Hugs to y’all! Tell Pops I said HEY 👋

  4. prices in my area has went way down always pd over $2 a gallon for milk our bread is up some from $1.49 to $2.00 our highest prices r in the freezer isles totinos pizza was.99 now $2.50 each n our gas hardly ever gets below $3.00 it’s running bout $3.59 a gallon i do have a small garden can’t do much with my hip had hip replacement over a year ago 3 drs say it needs replaced but surgeon refuses to do surgery!!!❤❤❤

  5. Won’t stop until I can’t do it anymore. The quality and integrity of the food at the store is terrible. It’s not always easy, but worth it. Preserving is an exhausting process. But can’t afford not to. Stay blessed!

  6. You are so right. People have stopped gardening…again. This is a mistake. Load up your pantry. I’m enlarging my gardens. Preparing soil in another 1500 sqft. The smart people are going larger not stopping.

  7. You live in fear ,and we create our own reality. I know everything‘s gonna be just perfect because I manifest my own reality. God wins btw ☮️ it’s so 3-D🤷‍♀️

  8. We are a family of 2, I’m certain that the garden is not really cost effective for us, but we’re still doing it, but it does not save us money. I would think it would be a game changer for a large family. I like my garden and fruits just because they are “mine”. lol

  9. I think that upcoming elections may prove to cause some very serious battles, possibly literally. Keep raising your own food just in case! It may not come to anything, but I would rather be ready for what may come.

  10. We'll all be singing 'Hard times, Hard times, Come around no more'. Amazing how short memories can be, isn't it?

  11. This year has been our most intensive gardening year to date. And we've been doing this for a couple of decades. This particular season has been a major gardening challenge, but yet – we keep going. There's nothing like growing your own herbs, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, etc.

  12. This year is the first year I have had a garden since 2018, I live in a new climate and WOW is it a learning curve! Grasshopper looking somethings are eating my canas, corn, tomatoes, bells 🙁 Frustrating, but I'm not going to stop. I will win this battle in one way or another 🙂

  13. The preparation we need to be making right now it's not if Trump in or whoever go read Matthew 24 Thessalonians 1 chapter 2 the church better wake up can you read this very definitely people we're going to see the Antichrist read these scriptures we're going to be mid trip pre-trip buckle up buttercup you better throw that Garden in you better pack in the food you better make sure your finances are in control

  14. Nope
I’m ramping up. Not only because I think it’s necessary due to the disgusting stuff they sell calling it food, because I desire my family to eat and nourish their body as best as possible, and because the beautiful things I can grow I can no longer afford if so had to purchase it.
I do many things but the canned food at the stores is turning to mostly water that you’re paying for.

  15. The news announced a day that all the farmers are gonna struggle so prices are gonna go up so that should make it more that you grow your own my first succession of cucumbers, and all that are pretty much coming to an end cause you’re melons I need to clean up the bed and get ready for fall yes I need to put in some onions and some carrots for sure. I did really great with carrots last year peppers are still going. I’m actually doing more peppers because I will overwinter them. Yeah I’m getting ready. I gotta start pulling out stuff. The mosquitoes are bad after the hurricane oh my God are they bad? 🦟
So clean out beds for a new season fall season still got a lot of things that I’ve already planned that are coming up so I’m on my second succession of lemon cucumbers, Armenian yard. I’ve learned a lot every year learn something different on where to put things at. I still haven’t even pulled out the potatoes and they’ve already all dried up and everything I need to pull them out maybe tomorrow during the day because these mosquitoes are bad.

  16. I think you are right! Everything is so high here in Central Texas, especially in small towns where there is no competition. I should walk my supermarket and give you an idea how ridiculous it is here. I have not stopped! I’m canning and freezing and making friends. I’m just a little gardener, but folks round here have taken notice and I have shared so much. I’m at a point I may start selling seeds and extra plants for a side hustle. Something is definitely around the corner! We know Who is going to carry us through, but it’s just wisdom to do our part ( not in fear ) so that should things suddenly occur, we can buy some time and help buffer against these ridiculous prices and crazy times we are living through. God bless you. I watch you all the time and I hope your new job is working out and Greg isn’t too overwhelmed with you back on the job.

  17. I get discouraged as the weeds in my garden is st. Augustine grass. It’s a never ending chore to keep it down and is never gone. It’s so invasive and I feel like I’m weeding more than gardening.

  18. Definitely want to try the mustard greens. Started adding brown and green goodies to my containers, trying an in-pot compost of sorts in our lovely heat down here. LOTS of humidity since Beryl. Planted a baby flowering chaste bush 2 weeks ago and already seeing bumbles on it, yay for pollinators! Yes tough times ahead – they started during COVID and most people are like the frog in the pot of water, starting to feel the heat but still in denial. 🐸 ☺💞🌴

  19. People who base their home pantry in the store are silly, why pay 4 $ for bread? Make some of this stuff for yourself, leave the potato chips on the shelf and purchase the potato leave the Campbell soup on the shelf and make a large jar of cream of … soup for about 3$. So much an be done so much cheaper

  20. I’m just learning how to garden. I had to start over because the first time the weeds took over. I still need to buy canning containers.

  21. Thank you so much for your encouragement. Love y’all!🥗🌱🫑🧅🧄🌶🍅🥕🌽🥦🥬🍆🥝🍑🥭🍓🍐🥩🍳🍠🥔🍽🫘🥜⛈

  22. I’ve gardened for many many yrs way before Covid tho I was able to double the size that year finally with the extra time. However this year I relied on perennials and buying from a couple locals for fresh eating as I have been stocked up on food home canned/frozen/dehydrated from the extra we were able to grow the last few yrs.
We have listed our home and looking for our new property therefore I didn’t invest the time/effort into our garden not knowing when we would be moving.
I’ve stayed plenty busy preserving perennials and working thru the freezers! It’s bittersweet-less work but I miss it and worry a little about not bringing in a new yrs worth of preserved food as I’m used to having that security! I’ve focused on seed saving and small pottings of my established plants to take with us.
God is always there…hubby went to our friends to shoot and came home with fresh corn and green beans from their garden🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. Looks like I’ll be busy tomorrow😁
I’m dreaming and planning my next garden on new property and looking forward to next year! It will be similar but I’m certain a learning curve for the new area!

  23. Thank you for the video and May God Bless You! For potatoes we paying $8.98 and Onions $4.18 it is very expensive over here in IL .
