First time visiting Ga-Ho-Jin, which is situated in the middle of Nakasu district of Fukuoka. Very high rated on tabelog, I made the reservation online in the Kanbai room which seats 7 people with a bright and inviting atmosphere. There are three different rooms available with a different feel to each. Chef Tadashi Kawashima is the apprentice under the chef owner of Ga-Ho-Jin and Sushi Sakai (3 michelin stars in the last michelin guide for fukuoka) and they serve traditional Edomae style sushi.

I would rate the meal as my favourite omakase meal (even higher than sushi Sakai), with my favourite dishes being the restaurant's signature Ankimo or monkfish liver. The fish were all exquisite, with chef Kawashima preparing each dish with focus and speed like it was second nature to him. He was friendly enough to communicate in Japanese, there were 2 other diners who couldn't speak Japanese and he communicated to them with what English he knew or via google translate. The meal cost 33K yen and I would definitely come back next time I visit Fukuoka.

Have prices gone up, or is this with drinks? I remember my meal in Dec not being more than¥25,000. If so, sushi prices have been going up crazy (was interested in Sushi Umi, but gone up loads). Sushi Sakai is only ¥11,000 more… (provided you can book). Diner next to us said Sushi Sakai was substantially better. Personally, the appetizers were too similar in taste, texture (ankimo, uni sauce, mine was pasty / sauce unlike yours). Sushi was good tho.
