BonAmb Javea **

BonAmb – two stars a few miles outside Jávea, in a picturesque setting in front of the Montgo mountain, a beautiful setting, possibly my favourite restaurant in Spain, and the only one I'll be making a third trip in a row to, to try this new season in September, great value for money, with the biggest of 3 menus coming in at 185€, a price that hasn't changed in years.

Snacks, 11 passes plus desserts. The order of the dishes is a little backwards, and some photos are missing, the pictures might not be all that to look at, but I think this chefs (Alberto Ferruz) talent lies, in the incredible broths, and reductions he makes to go with the almost entirely fish and seafood menu.

1)the petit fours.

2)beer and carob dessert. Excellent

3) the only meat dish, the final dish. pheasant

4)dry oyster, snails broth, and fennel

5)this was some sort of a Spanish prawn with a cafe Paris sauce. excellent

6)cuttlefish pasta with sea tomato. a dish made entirely by a chef at the table. outstanding

7)white pickling brine, white prawns, in cow tallow and miso

8)tuna sequence – 4 different types of tuna prepared at the table. that tuna empanada was insanely good.

9) squid tofu, and mushroom dashi

10)matured lettuce anchovy emulsion, and curry tuna

11)almond and caviar cream. outstanding

12)a house classic. celeriac crepe, and red mullet juice

13)fermented tomato, costal herbs and mollusks along with some other welcome snacks.

A highly recommend restaurant to anyone in the Alicante / Jávea /Denia area.
