Italy is a country famous for its very old food traditions, with many of its classic recipes having been around for hundreds (if not thousands) of years. However, that’s not to say that the Boot isn’t prone to food trends and fads, just like everywhere else!

Today, Eva’s introducing me to some recipes that were enormously popular in Italy during the 1980s. These dishes may have fallen out of favor in recent decades, but perhaps we can find some fads that are worth reviving.

Or maybe it will just be a puzzling nightmare of outdated taste, we’ll see…

  1. New subscriber – Youtube suggested your Farinata video and I've watched a few more since. Y'all are an absolute delight and I can't wait to watch more! ❤❤❤

  2. I love Eva's face when Harper calls her out for using lemon to cover up the mayo. I'm with you, Eva!!!

  3. here in France I eat a potato and tuna salad with mayo and some lemon juice ALL the time. (so I guess Eva's right…blame it all on the French) all you're missing is the black olives, you'll definitely like those in there.
and i'm sure some capers would be a good Italian improvement. Really great tuna salad, big improvement on the American version I grew up on.
But yeah…stop before you do the pesce finto.

  4. 80s? Almost every Italian Restaurant in Germany offers Vitello Tonnato as an appetizer even today.

  5. I love you both but thumbs down on this video. I got nothing from it, it actually depressed me. Sorry.

  6. i was 23 in 1980 and glad to say i never ate any of these dishes in the Italian community in London England during the 80s! hope there are none of them in your new cookbook 😊😊😊😊😊

  7. I'm a total 3rd country foreigner and even I know that Italians have a big chip on their shoulder when it comes to French cuisine.

  8. Harler's expressions are priceless! The look on his face when first sees these dishes make the whole video. You should really have a condiment bottle to put the sauce on the Vitelo Tonnato so that it has pretty caligraphy swirls of sauce, not big dollops. I think I would use more cappers and add some chopped parsley for the garnish. Even some minced pimento pepper wouldn't be out of place. I might try the potatoes in the tuna salad. You need homemade mayonnaise, though, …and a fish shaped copper jelly mold.

  9. Va beh il vitello tonnato è uno straclassico. Si mangia ancora adesso…vi siete dimenticati le penne alla vodka
