I made these cupcakes for a coffee shop. People didn’t order them. I’m wondering if the cakes don’t look appealing enough or the flavor sounds too exotic.

Maybe a little tasting party is in order to convince everyone at the coffee shop that these treats are worth a try.

  2. Breakfast_Waffle

I can’t believe no one ordered them. I’d eat the whole freaking platter! Maybe people thought they were too pretty to eat?

I would love to try them, can you try mini cupcakes that cost less to tempt people to try then eventually try bigger ones

They are gorgeous, it breaks my heart that no one ordered them! Was it the price?

  5. This is right up my alley, if I saw this in a bakery I’d order it immediately

  6. Godwtfamidoing

That sounds absolutely delicious. At our local boba joint that would be gobbled up immediately! It depends on where you live though.

These are so beautiful – I wonder if people thought it would be like eating a work of art?

I would definitely buy one!! I’m sorry that no one bought any. Don’t be discouraged! It could be the area you’re in. If your audience is used to traditional cupcake flavors, that’s what they’ll gravitate toward. Just think about this-the person that invented carrot cake probably had the same issues!! 😁

From my own experience, location matters. My wife has made zucchini brownies and no one wanted to try them. They were super rich and extremely tasty, but iTs GoT vEeGeTaBlES.

Try them? I’d _devour_ them! These would be at the top of my list to order at a café!

  11. People are probably nervous about the taro. I have no idea how that would taste and wouldn’t want to waste my money.

They are very pretty and I’d definitely eat me some taro cupcakes.

My immediate thought was the colors aren’t inviting to me though so maybe that had something to do with it?

They’d compliment a succulent garden style cupcake design well though, just add other colors.

I really, really don’t like taro, but these are so damn pretty that I’d try one anyway just to make sure.

No, I can’t eat food this beautiful. I had a candy collection when I was a child. Chocolate bunnies made me sad.

My guess is some people thought they were pretty too eat. Also, some people may be unfamiliar with taro and purple sweet potato.

Regardless, I definitely would try them! I’ve never had either of those ingredients, but I’ve wanted to try them.

Yes, these colors are beautiful, they feel almost too pretty to eat..

They are so beautiful! I could see some people being unsure, as they are maybe thinking they might not like it and might have buyer’s remorse. Something simple might be easier to push at the coffee shop. I am stunned by the petalwork on these and I would absolutely try one!

Unless you have a huge Asian base, these will not sell. Even in parts of CA (woodland, I’m looking at you!) my ube crunch cookies wouldn’t sell because they were purple. My CCC and my blueberry poptart Frosted Flakes cookies go in a heartbeat. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Do they taste like taro? And if so, do they taste like real taro, or the fake taro flavoring that tastes like cereal milk?

  20. Wild-Sky-2641

Absolutely not. They are beautiful but I know for a fact that I dislike taro.

  21. CatfromLongIsland

They look fantastic! Your piping skills are top notch!

I shy away from unfamiliar flavors when the item is purchased from a bakery. If I do not like it then I feel as though I wasted my money. So I would rather play it safe. I am more likely to try something unfamiliar if it was served at someone’s home. This mentality is why samples offered at BJs and Costco work. People are more likely to pay for a large quantity of an item is the had the chance to try it first.

No, they’re too pretty to eat. Jk, I’d F those up with a quickness and a bubble tea.

  23. inkstremist

I would immediately order these. In fact, I’d probably ask for the recipe too!

    Beautiful piping work as well

  24. howlsmovingcabin

I would eat one of these in an instant. Taro, ube, and purple sweet potato flavors in general are the best.

  25. frobnosticus

I’d…actually be hesitant because the look too nice.

I’d give sweet potato cupcakes a shot. But it does sound a little off center, like it would be “savory with frosting” somehow.

  26. MysteriousPlankton46

Those are stunning! I would buy one! (Or 2)

  27. Siren_0f_Titan

I would “try” 3 or 4 haha. They look great!

  28. MsBlondeViking

I’d try them. Just because I’ve never had the combo, and I love to try new things. So beautiful!!

  29. Cali_Flower1234

I would! But I love taro..I think a lot of people might not be familiar with taro depending on where you are.

  30. They look amazing. I guess it depends on your clientele.. the exoticness would make me want to try one, but I am sure some people would be like ‘whats taro? whats purple yam?’ and not be adventurous.

  31. HarlequinnAsh

Is the potato ube? Theres a place near me that makes ube crepe cake and it is INSANELY ADDICTIVE. I am not to be trusted.
