May have overdone this a bit.. I put it back on for another minute and regret it. What would you give it out of 10?

Still steak. I think it looks pretty good.

  2. cheeseflosser

There are lots great steaks that don’t show well. It all comes down to taste and texture and this one looks like it went down well

  3. Little on the dry side but alteast a gooood sear! That Will weigh up 🙂

  4. EverythingsTaken42o

So this is what a1 sauce is for lol still looks good

  5. Willanddanielle

The crust looks great. Who cares if it is cook past Medium.

I would eat the whole thing…..

  6. Did you enjoy eating it? Then you cooked it right. I like mine rarer (hence my flair), but I’d still eat that.

  7. Well, if it was pork I’d say you did a fine job. Heck, if it were 30 years ago, I’d say it looked great. But, my dude, and I speak from experience here, *never* put it back on the heat for another X minutes. If it’s too rare when you cut into it, then you can cook more… but you can’t *uncook* it.

  8. Pour yourself a little pool of 57 Sauce. If this is what you have to worry about right now, things will be OK.

I’d pivot and make a burrito or steak quesadilla out of it. Would be bomb for that

Looks fine, is it a strip? Could be near well done and stay AWESOME if so 😁

    Edit- just saw flair lol

  11. CrispyPancakeEdges

Still looks decent to me. Might exercise the jaw a bit but I don’t think I’d be flossing my teeth afterwards.

  12. InformationKey3816

Looks a little past medium. Looks delicious. Probably use a steak sauce to add some moisture to it.

  13. lukaxdirk7741

Sear it in some bachans sauce. You won’t regret it

  14. Equal_Veterinarian80

I thought you nailed it then realized it’s not chicken

  15. I would smash that steak with some horseradish and dried rosemary (it’s too late for fresh), but it really could have been something great if you pulled it 2-5 minutes sooner (probably closer to 3 if the heat was as high as I’m thinking it was)

  16. Longjumping_Cow7270

    A 6… I’d eat it still don’t worry lol

  17. deadrabbits4360

Still looks bomb. I have a nice dipper for just these occasions.

  18. I’ve seen and eaten way worse. Pull it off quicker next time, and if it’s because you were having trouble with the sear, consider hacks like using oil in the skillet, patting it dry after salting, or just flat out increasing the heat (yet shortening the cook time.

  19. FargoniusMaximus

Not perfect but not ruined, I’d happily eat it, nice work, now you have a benchmark to adjust against next time.

  20. Skypirate90

Im more of a rare guy myself but if i saw and smelled it id eat it.

  21. STBayFL727

I’d still smash it….Hell even those Taquitos at 7 Eleven are fire come 4am. We all live and learn🍻👊🏼

  22. TheGreenTub402

Doesn’t matter at all, if you’re happy that’s the most important thing!

  23. Sweaty_Slice_1688

The only question you need to ask is: “Do I like it?”. If you do then you did a great job.

It’s still pink. It looks moist. Don’t obsess over getting everything perfect all the time.

  24. Livid-Age-2259

That is why there is Steak Sauce. I recommend either A1 or Heinz 57.

  25. HamLiquor

A lotta folks just say that’s cooked, wouldn’t pass it up

  26. RusticBucket2

Are we calling this medium-well or just medium?

  27. RIPseantaylor

There is a HUGE difference between a medium-well steak and a fucked up steak.

Too anyone calling it dry or making A1 jokes zoom in it’s juicy edge to edge with basically zero grey band.

Looks delicious even if not cooked to preference

  28. No_Bother8877

Kinda dry and over done but Slice it in thin and have some tacos, might need some sauce or salsa over it.

  29. sockdepot69

I’d say it’s definitely over, mediocre crust consistency / charring.

Would have been good on temp resting.

    6.5/10

    Would still definitely eat

Wife would probably give this a 7.5-8 on the cook

  30. LionsAndLonghorns

This is more “it could have been better” than ruined. I’d still eat that and enjoy it. Don’t let social media convince you your food isn’t delicious.

  31. themishmosh

Terrific sear. I’d still eat it with a smile on my face.

  32. What was it supposed to be? Looks like slightly below well-done with some MW in the middle… not what I would do for me, but I’ve made lots of steaks in restaurants to order just like this, maybe with slightly less charring but it’s really not fundamentally terrible. You didn’t cook the juice out, it’s not dry, doesn’t look like there’s such bad charring that you have to cut big chunks of charcoal out. Perfectly good taco steak if nothing else.

  33. HopScotchyBoy

I think everyone has done this more than once, it’s still steak so unless you really fucked it up, it is probably still tasty.

  34. Dull_Present506

Dice it up and braise it or put in the instapot.

  35. Arrant-Nonsense

Look, what you do to your steak in the privacy of your own home is your business. If you want to get freaky with it before you throw it on the grill or in a pan, who am I to judge?

  36. Quodgephelph

I wouldn’t hesitate to gobble that up. Anyone who refuses to eat this has never known real hunger
