Maximillian Petty’s Eden hill, eater young gun winner and 3 times James beard runner up for best new restaurant, is always our favorite tasting menu in seattle. For a slim 120 pp, each course is crazy innovative and fun. Living in seattle is truly rough if you want nyc level fine dining but Eden hill pushes the envelope with their 30 seats.

My friend and I went there last year and had very different experiences. My friend is a carnivore so she quite enjoyed the tasting menu. I’m a vegetarian and they did offer a vegetarian tasting menu which was very disappointing overall. The big issue was that they had absolutely no protein or filling alternative for the vegetarians. So my friend and I would get a similar dish, but hers would have a good protein and the vegetarian one would have a couple of pieces of a vegetable with no protein at all. I actually talked about how hungry I still was at the end of the meal and the Chef came out to offer another entrée after the dessert course, which I declined. Both tasting menus were priced equally.

To me, Café Juanita did a much better job of presenting a well rounded vegetarian tasting menu.

I went there for a birthday a few years ago. Didn’t like it. Much prefer altura.
