    If they’re like the orange Hungarian ‘carrot’ peppers I used to grow, they likely won’t get bigger than that; guessing they might turn red from here (?). When I’m unsure about a plant’s progress, I pick one of the fruits and chop it to see how developed it is.

    Pull them now if you want them to stay black (very dark purple) and with a more modest heat, akin to an Anaheim pepper in the 3-5k Scoville range. If you leave them on the plant, then they’ll eventually turn red and will develop a stronger heat, more like a strong jalapeno or weak serrano in the 8-10k Scoville range.
