I biked a 30 mile round trip yesterday to try the delicious, but hard to obtain happy hour menu. Being available 6 hours per week total and only about 10 seats at the bar, you have to really make an effort to try it. When I arrived there was already about 20 people waiting outside, luckily most of them didn't sit at the bar.

First, the menu has 5 items, but the gumbo is on their regular menu so I didn't try it and I didn't really feel like ordering cheese and crackers at a restaurant. But I tried the other 3 items and all 3 cocktails that are on the happy hour menu. Every cocktail was $10

In the order of the images, the first item, and my favorite, was the Buffalo Mac and cheese croquettes. 9/10 small bite, not very hot but a good texture and their Mac and cheese is already delicious. My only complaint is it's rather small for $7 plus fees and tip.

Also pictured is the peach tree fizz. Very good, not very sweet and the prosecco comes through nicely. 8/10

Next is my favorite cocktail, the patience is virtue. Rhubarb is very tasty and it was very refreshing after a long hot bike ride. Pretty sweet but it paired well with the food and was a little thicker than the fizz. 10/10

The wings weren't the best I've had but an excellent value at $13 including hot sauce and a biscuit. They were very crispy and the hot sauce, while not very hot, was quite vinegar-foward and cut through the richness of the breading. The biscuit was dense and buttery, but not flaky. 7.5/10

The catfish slider was simple but tasty. The bun was slightly sweet with an indeterminate tangy sauce. There was a surprisingly thick piece of catfish and the lettuce provided a bit of crispness. 8/10

Finally the Hyde Park Sezerac. I'm not a big whiskey person but this was a solid drink. Very spirit-first and the bitters complimented the rye well. Also it included quality absinthe which I really appreciated, it was a subtle, but significant, touch. 7/10

Overall I'd give the experience an 8/10. It was very filling, I certainly wouldn't have been able to eat this much if not for the aforementioned long ride there and back. Worth checking out if you get the chance but it is difficult to get a spot.
