Given these are not the bell peppers I expected, when would you pick them?
Still unclear what kind they are if anyone knows but I’m debating if I pick the largest now to try or wait and see if it ripens further.

I’m not entirely convinced those aren’t bells. I don’t usually grow them, but I tried last year, and many looked a lot like this while they were growing. I like to let most of my peppers fully mature, so I’d have no problem leaving these up and waiting to see what they do.

I bought some Burpee Carnival Blend Bell Pepper seeds and I’d say half of the plants are not bells. One of them was a hot banana pepper. I gather hybridizing peppers is tough – not sure another reason.

Are they pretty firm to touch? Any other hints of color change elsewhere?

Some of my bell peppers took on the spear shape for my second harvest when they were bell shaped the first time around. What specific variety were you expecting?

I also have some jalapeno flavored Green Bell peppers growing.
I blame Peppergate.
I’m not mad. I love jalapenos. I just have a lot more of them than I expected.
I pick mine when they first start turning red.

They look like the peppers that are common here in Turkey. The red ones taste just like red bell peppers, maybe a little sweeter. Same texture. I pick them green if its super hot out. Those taste excellent also. If it super hot and dry they get shriveled if I wait for them to turn red. I don’t know their name, but they are far more common here than the bells in the US.

They look a lot like the Marconi Red peppers that I am growing. Turn red after they mature.

I’d wait until they ripen.

They look like snacking peppers. You can wait to see if any change color. I have orange and purples ones right now.

The longer you let it grow the hotter it will get, and turn red

They look like jalapenos. I’m pretty sure that’s what they are. I’d wait for them to get a bit darker and fatter. When they turn red they are less hot.

They look like my Hungarian wax hot peppers. Just darker in color

Pick one and try it now, leave another on the plant and see if it ripens further. Whichever tastes better, that one!
Wait until they are red! I have some Italian sweet peppers who look like this now
These are my red bell peppers. 😂

These are my “red bell” peppers. Google lens says they are poblanos. Chile rellenos in my future. 😂
Looks like jalapeno to me.
Pick one. Take a bite. If it tastes too green or grassy, leave the rest on to ripen.
I’d wait until they ripen.
I could be wrong but these look a lot like Anaheim Peppers.
Mmmmm pick those pablanos and stuff em
