  1. Sometimes I wish these restaurants were at least mid. Most are not even to that level.

  2. MurrayPloppins

Beauty and Essex is my most prominent example. Not bad food, but the food is definitely not what you’re paying for.

  3. Beauty and Essex, Beauty and Essex, and Beauty and Essex

  4. EvenInvestigator5696

Rule of Thirds. Bland, stale, HORRIBLE staff, and equally bad food

  5. fortytwoanswers

Laserwolf for me. Never got the hype other than taking a nice photo of the view. Food is mediocre Middle-Eastern, even for the “fancier” or “high-end” style.

i don’t know what i hate more; restaurants that do this or the influencers who created a circumstance where restauranteurs are catering to them over creating a delicious menu. Fuck them all. If a restaurant hasn’t been open for two decades or longer, i’m not interested anymore.

  7. HamsterFido

i read this wrong and thought it was top 3 restaurants in NYC, started writing shit down for my next trip there

  8. RichardB4321

Magic Hour Rooftop, a friend wanted to go. They’re still working on getting the food to mid.

(Though I can’t complain because we met Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston doing a Dos Hombres promo so maybe there’s something to eating out for the vibes alone.)

  9. veraciraptor

Meduza Mediterrania is the 4th circle of hell

  10. Based off what I ordered, Catch. Was not impressed at all.

  11. MintChipOreo

Can someone let me know what’s the opposite of this—great food and great ambiance

  12. Evening-Hearing-454

dont blame the restaurants, blame the influencers who have to film every meal they eat

  13. Signal-Blackberry356

Yep, that’s what’s becoming of fine dining and community restaurants.

  14. legally_blondy

Beef bar, Bad Roman and Chelsea Living Room

  15. Babymonster09

A couple yrs ago I was in the city and had been dying to go to the rooftop restaurant at Eataly. Was not impressed. Aesthetically pleasing and visually stimulating? Yes! But the food was not mind blowing tbh and neither was my drink. Also agreed on Jacks wife Freida!

  16. mellowbaeton

I’ll say the one thing that isn’t overrated are those $.99 pizza joints in Midtown. They’re not that good and not that healthy, but if I can get fed for a dollar after Covid inflation, I’ll take what I can get

  17. Honestly, I went to foxface due to everyone’s suggestion here, the food was so bad I couldn’t even finish it. Expensive af too

  18. Bike-nOsmelly

Bad Roman, Coqodaq, Cote. Honorable mention Gramercy Tavern

  19. Cartadimusica

That pink restaurant on mott street or sth? Can’t believe still there

All the single pasta concepts now, gnocchi 9, pasta de pasta and the invoking pastagasm (yea that’s the name)

  20. GlasgowRose2022

La Mercerie. Appalling service, meh meal and overpriced. I’d say it was daylight robbery but it was an evening I’d like to forget (and get my $ back).
