will preface this by noting that i am very impartial on seafood. will never turn my nose up at it but will also rarely salivate over it like i would a piece of lamb. soo i visited le bernardin for the chefs tasting menu the other day. first, i realize the dated decor and ambiance has some haters, but i thought it was very charming in an old school way. the service was also perfect. however, i thought many of the dishes were just very boring. both in terms of presentation and what they actually were. they were still delicious (especially the montauk shrimp, salmon, and peruvian chocolate dessert) but they felt very uninventive and not what i expected from a 3*. i do wish there were some more shellfish as the lobster amuse bouche was delicious but maybe i just got unlucky with the menu that day. anyway still happy to have gone but just the tiniest bit underwhelmed

Did they serve that prawn dish with the sauce splashed like that? Seems pretty unacceptable.
