Not sure how tightly they are supposed to be packed? And does it affect the pickles if they’re too tight or too loose? Here’s a picture of the tightest and loosest from my batch.

I pack them in as tight as I can and will usually have one jar at the end that is loose. I never noticed any difference in the end results.

They always seem to shrink a little bit during processing so I cram them in as tight as I can.

Either way is fine. Less brine if packed tight especially if you make a dozen or more. Keeps you from having to make more brine halfway thru

Pack tight, don’t cram. But yes, tight.
