  1. Yes, I grew up with this, we love it with Butter though, You know know butter makes it better. We also used it for making chocolate milk. It was a regular staple breakfast food for us.

  2. Oh my goodness! I’ve never heard of this, but I’m all for it. I will need to make this dreamy desert 😊

  3. I am from Kentucky, my mother used to make this for us when we were children, but she used homemade butter in hers, also the vanilla extract, She also made patted layered biscuits instead of just drop biscuits,so delicious!!!

  4. it's a southern thing sunday mornings with all us kids as a treat chocolate gravy but if you will notice it is much like an unset pudding all you need to do is temper in 4 Beaten eggs and continue to cook. until done cool and eat pudding.

  5. put it on pancakes rice pondulce cookies french toast let your imagination run wild good with fresh berries to and bananas. oh peanut butter oh the ultimate sin.

  6. How cool! I just saw Mamaw Gail’s recipe for this on my fyp about 30 mins ago! I’d love to try it!

  7. My treat was a cold biscuit that my grandma would rake a stick her finger into middle and pour in Molasses 😁. Remember many a summer days sitting on her porch with my cousins eating molasses biscuits while she dipped her snuff and spit it into old coffee tins. She would also take a branch from a tree in her yard and “knaw” one end til it was fanned into a perfect dipper for her snuff

  8. Raised in a Southern family, grandma, 2 aunts, & Mom who'd moved West in Dust Bowl. Never had/heard of chocolate gravy. I've lived in the South about 40 years now. First heard of this on YT.
I love biscuits, love chocolate, but this is too high carb.

  9. I’ve lived right here in Houston (area) my whole life and I did not grow up having this, nor have I ever had it still to this day! I feel cheated lol I guess I need to make this soon !!

  10. Hi A.!!! I have never had this. Sure does look super yummy. Im going to give this a try for sure…YUMS!!!…Great Video!!!…🦋

  11. I'm 65 and I was born and raised in Texas! I only have had chocolate gravy one time! And that was when we lived in Bastrop Tx, for about 3 years! Friends of mine mother made it! I have had plenty of SOS, biscuits and gravy made with all kinds of stuff! Except for chocolate! But I can say the one time that I had chocolate gravy it was good! I'm going to have to try this again!!

  12. It's interesting as it seems to be a thing in only parts of the South. I have spent almost all of my 65 years in Georgia and never heard of it until I started traveling for work to North Alabama where most places seem to have it. They just used normal rolled biscuits rather than drop biscuits though.

  13. My husband's aunt lived in a hollar in the Missouri Ozarks and she made this all the time. This was back in the 60's and70's. My husband loved it but I couldn't eat it. I don't like chocolate. I do have a good reason. When I was a child the medicine for children was made with a chocolate flavoring that was very bitter. Does anyone else remember it? I am 83 now.

  14. Grew up with biscuits & chocolate gravy….Arizona, Oklahoma, always a family favorite. You must have a big pat of butter on the biscuit before pouring on the gravy!

  15. My mom would make something she called peanut butter sauce. It was made with cocoa powder, sugar and peanut butter cooked in a saucepan. Such a yummy treat. Made this for my children and now that they are grown they make it when they want a taste of home❤

  16. Ok. I have been following off & on for several years. Your recipes are not exact measurements. With this biscuit & gravy recipe, you say the recipe ingredient calls for 1 cup but I'm going to use 3/4 cup, and you adjusted every ingredient, for the biscuits & for the sauce. Just an observation.

  17. Split the biscuit and butter it before adding the chocolate gravy. North Alabama seems to be the origin of this or at least where it is more prevalent.

  18. Hi 👋! I love EVERY video you post! I have learned SO MUCH watching them! As a request, I wondered if you could do a Mexican market tour? Especially the meat market and the vegetables. It would be great to know about what the ‘unknown’ vegetables might taste like in comparison to ‘known’ vegetables. And, the recipes that meats are best used for. I have discovered a market near me and have so many questions! Thanks!😊

  19. I grew up on this, the gravy we make is using water, makes a richer chocolatey gravy. I have had both but prefer water recipe, my kids make it for their kids growing up, now my grandchildren make it and share with friends. I add the vanilla after removing it from the heat, then add a tablespoon of butter and mix it all in..both parents are from the south, Kentucky and Arkansas ❤❤💝

  20. Chocolate gravy and regular ol' buttermilk catheads in my grandmother's kitchen. It's been many years since I made it, but it is a delightful treat. Seems like tiktok folks are always discovering something "new" that is, in reality, very old.
