In chicago for the first time and was extremely dissapointed by the food here.

Elske:
The pastries, the desserts, what was actually good? None of it. Everything was bland and boring. The dishes did not have anything outstanding when my partner and I were both looking forward to a mind blowing experience and to scrape the plate. We left most of the desserts behind.
The food was not great either, I understand that this restaurant is more danish/swede vibes but it still was not good. The octopus was delicious, but the additions to it were bland and weird. The chicken was delicious, soft almost too soft, but still great. We also got the summer squash which was mid at best. Overall 4/10

I feel so vindicated by this review. I got sooo much hate for saying something similar on the chicago food sub. Sorry you went there, Chicago has a bunch of unreal food you could’ve had!

I was underwhelmed as well I ate there a few weeks ago. I’m just at the beginning of my food destination journey and I got the tasting menu. They absolutely loaded down with the star anise for the majority of the plates. But I will say the seaweed panna cotta was amazing dessert I am really sorry you couldn’t have enjoyed that. The duck liver tart was good too but it wasn’t something I couldn’t get anywhere else.

Looks like the dishwasher was promoted to Chef.

Sorry was this really how they came to you? Did you alter anything? This is shockingly awful looking.

  5. This is shockingly poor presentation for a 1*. Very glad I went to Jeong instead of Elske the other day. Sorry for your wasted money and dinner opportunity. I have to say, I’ve dined quite a bit throughout Scandinavia, and the food is excellent there, so I don’t think this is a matter of not liking Scandinavian cuisine. It’s not really that different.
