Hello!
I'm wondering if I made a mistake with my pickles.
This was after the water bath- I'm concerned I didn't add enough liquid. Can anyone help? I made 5 jars, 2 for sure we're a bust as the lids came off, so I'll put them in the fridge.

Can you provide the recipe you used? The headspace is a little concerning and also probably why the others did not seal.
Definitely need to add more liquid next time. I would throw out the current jars you made. A good rule of thumb is roughly a 1/2 inch of headspace from top of jar 👍🏻
The headspace is not good. You need to measure 1/2 inch from the rim of the jar and not that ridge below where the band was.
[Here’s a post I made a few weeks ago with some useful tips.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Canning/s/lZEKb8u0QL)
After you add the liquid, you should “debubble” the jar and it helps to remove any air bubbles, then you top off with more liquid to the jar to reach the proper headspace.

Congrats on joining the JAMazing world of canning! Just remember, if at first you don’t succeed, pickle yourself up and try again!
I can’t be certain based on the angle of the photos, but these jars look woefully short of cucumbers. It should be ever so mildly difficult to get the last cucumber slice in the jar. If you don’t think you’re putting in too many, you likely aren’t putting in enough. In addition to needing to address the headspace issue.
Don’t touch the lids right away – they need to be cooled for 24 hours before you remove the rings, undisturbed.
