I solo dined at the Smyth. I’ve been hearing mixed reviews since Chef Luke left but honesty, I really enjoyed this meal. Some sort of oil on almost dish seems excessive but still delicious. I ordered a burger from The Loyalist before dessert, best decision ever. They moved me to a high top table for the burger + dessert but I had no problems with that since I dined solo and they probably wanted to turn the table over to another reservation. I can confidently say that The Smyth is better than Eleven Madison Park food wise. Service was amazing at the Smyth but EMP is on another level. I wanted to point out that if you mixed the Caviar (8th photo) into the almond oil mixture, it tastes like you’re eating cereal with Caviar (in a good way). Overall, great experience and looking forward to see what they come up with next!

[That burger tho 🤤](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ralph-fiennes-as-chef-julian-with-the-menu-s-cheeseburger.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=1100&h=618&dpr=1.5)
Think I’d explode if I had all that and then a burger. Could barely finish my burger at Loyalist by itself.
Smyth holds a special place for me because they served us a crab infused broth in a cup filled with seaweeds that you inhaled as you sipped. It transported me back to my childhood poking around tide pools in the small Northern California town I grew up in. I actually teared up which has never happened while dining 😂 It was like that moment in Ratatouille, and it’s the reason why I love love love food. Glad you enjoyed!! It’s such a warm and welcoming space too. We liked it so much more than Alinea.
A few of these courses look similar to when I went in April! I had a few very memorable bites, but I particularly remember the bite of butter (I think it’s butter) served with the crab course, where it had just an incredibly explosive flavor unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
