My favourite sandwich is Ham, cheese and mayo. I want to swap out the ham with something vegetarian. I have no idea what to swap it with? Please help.

I love the simplicity of this. What kind of cheese and ham do you use? And what white bread is that?

Hear me out : a cream cheese and cucumber sandwich on bread is amazing.

This sandwich made me think fondly of childhood with a grandparent.

As for your question, I like hummus in my sandwiches when I’m feeling in the mood for vegetarian alongside with whatever veggies I have in the fridge to use up. I get the 4 pack variety at Aldi – has a roasted red pepper, garlic, jalapeño, and original. They also carry a dill hummus that kicks butt.

Seitan is a wonderful alternative to use for a vegan Reuben. Lions mane mushrooms as well as a handful of other shroom varieties when marinated make for a hearty sammich as well.

  4. Toasting bread always helps. And seasoned veggies of some kind.

Mrs Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli has the best vegetarian sandwich “meats” – you can check their website to see if any grocery stores near you carry their products! I usually buy the corned beef to make veggie reubens but they’re all good!

  6. Potato chips! Or a sprinkle of black pepper. Or both.

Kroger Simple Truth plant based ham. It’s absolutely delicious and been one of my favs as a vegetarian.

Personally I like using falafels in place of meat in sandwiches/wraps/etc! Though if I’m having a cheese sandwich I like it with tomato and caramelised onion relish 🙂

Heirloom tomato, maldon, fresh cracked black crack, your mayo of choice. If you want crunch, some potato chips.

Zucchini, Squash, and Eggplant have a mild flavor and the texture could be *similar-ish*

    Mushroom Patê

    Black Olives

cheese, pickles and onions are a great combo

  14. Agree with what others are saying that cucumbers work well. Could try adding some tomato slices if it feels a bit too simple.

Kudos to you for eating more veggies and less meat!

Just throw in some crispy crunchy nacho cheese Doritos in there and call it a W

Oh tomato mayo sandwiches. buy the most high quality tomatoes you can get. Heirlooms are my preference. Slice them thick, lather mayo on bread and salt the tomato slices. Enjoy the most oddly enjoyable snack ever.

A japanese style egg salad sandwich or a bodega style egg sandwich works too.

Sliced tomato and a bit of cracked pepper.

I’m eating one for lunch right now haha

Its not youre favorite if you want a substitute. Kinda like marriage.

They have some pretty good meat substitutes that have the texture and flavor of meat. I recommend Tofurkey and Light Life brands. Light Life recently revamped their deli meat recipe and they taste much better now imo. I literally just finished a sandwich 5 minutes ago and it was delicious.

This is a perfect sandwich! Don’t change anything!

My fav veg options: tomato, pickles, sprouts, cucumber, lettuce,, onion, green onion, mushrooms (raw or seared), cheese, bell pepper, other peppers, pepperoni, … sandwiches don’t need meat.

this sandwich looks really good. I can see why it’s your favorite! maybe try a cheese with a different texture or salt content for contrast in addition to the cheese you already have on there? cheese sandwiches are classic already for a reason

I respect the simplicity of your favorite sandwich. I’ve heard Tofurkey is pretty good vegan substitute for ham.

Try chick pea salad (lots of recipes online). Smash it up and put it on bread. Has mayo in the recipe and could throw on some cheese. I like chick pea salad sandwiches with iceberg lettuce, tomato, and a bit of garlic hummus. Fresh dill in the chick pea salad is key. Toasting the bread is optional but the texture is ideal.
