All of my san marzanos are rotten on the inside 🙁 I’m so sad

    You can slice/scoop that out and the rest should be fine for sauce

    Some of my peppers are doing this. I’m cutting out bad centers. I’m still alive so maybe there’s hope for you!!

    Just cut out the bad part. The rest of the tomato is fine to use.

    All of mine had blossom end rot. None of my other tomatoes did. Never again.

    It’s probably seed mold. A lot of people are having this issue it’s been an especially humid year. Just cut around it

    I had that last year. It happened to those san marzano plants which had blossom end rot. I used extra calmag fertilizers this year and so far they are all fine.

    I get this sometimes in the ones i grow just cut it out and you’ll be good to go.

  13. I went to work Friday morning, checked my vegetable garden.. about 17-20 Roma tomatoes still green and growing… I got home and was left with 3.. damn squirrels took them ALL… I can relate to the loss of tomatoes

    I just made a sauce with mine. I blended them whole and now I’m terrified.

  15. Mine were completely ripped off, vine was even broken. We have a black walnut tree so squirrels activity is heavy

    Definitely don’t eat the black stuff, it’s all rot and mold.

    Was there a prolonged period of rainfall preceding this? Whatever this is seems to disproportionally affect San marzanos. It’s not your classic BER. Maybe it’s some sort of water-related cracking that invites pathogens into the base.

  17. Yeah I’ve lost many peppers this year because of either blossom end rot or seed mold like some suggested due to it being so humid this year. Which checks out in s/e Ontario

  21. I get this in some of my SMs. Usually there is a blemish at the end, but not always. I also had a really weird thing happen. Some of the seeds inside of the SMs were sprouting inside of the tomato. OP, just hang in there, they will come around eventually.

    Literally all of mine were like this too this year! I ended up cutting out the rotten parts and I cooked them into a sauce. But that’s so bizarre we both had the exact same issue

  23. About 95% of my san marzanos got blossom end rot. I watered them the same as my Romas and other tomatoes so I don’t know wtf is going on.

    It’s a fungus I think, not blossom end rot. Have you had a wet growing season? Or possibly overwatered the plants/had poor drainage?

    It isn’t poisonous, you can cut out the affected areas and salvage the rest.
