bit of a slow summer break so decided to visit for the weekend to try some of your city’s great restaurants – did not disappoint!

friday:
lunch at le bernardin: ordered the chefs tasting menu – such a cool old school vibe and impeccable service but none of the dishes totally blew me out of the water besides the dessert (peruvian chocolate) and the plating felt a little boring (although maybe that’s part of the charm?). the montauk shrimp and bouillabaisse was very tasty however. still a great experience but did not feel like a 3 star

dinner at jeju noodle bar: ordered the caviar fried chicken, wagyu ramyun, and soft serve dessert (not pictured) – soooo delicious. chicken was delightfully juicy and the tangy richness of the yogurt was so gas w the caviar. the ramyun broth was probably the best ive ever had, i think i licked the bowl clean

saturday:
brunch at casa mono: ordered the pan con tomate, pork sobrasada, bone marrow, and pig ears (not pictured) – the perfect midday snack. loved how the acidity of the horseradish crema cut the fattiness of the marrow. the honeycomb was also a great combo with the sobrasada. refreshing sangria as well

dinner at the musket room: ordered the omnivore tasting menu – each dish was plated beautifully (edible flower overload?) and the flavors were perfect for summer. i surprisingly enjoyed the cauliflower/potato puree with caviar – did not expect to like warm caviar but somehow it worked. the grape leaf wrapped lamb was delicious as well. also got $100 off the already relatively inexpensive meal (check out inkind promotions if you havent) so cant complain!

sunday:
brunch at meduza: this was not a planned stop but the vibe looked really cool as we walked by so decided to give it a try. really beautiful interior (albeit very loud) and a surprisingly good pita burger

snack at l’industrie: tried the burrata slice – no words. walked around a bit and probably let it get too cold but still the best bite of pizza ive ever had

dinner at la lanterna di vittorio: ordered the carne lasagna flight and tiramisu (not pictured). so delicious (i enjoyed the lamb one the most) and so inexpensive too. decided to sit in the garden and was a lovely intimate ambiance with the greenery and lanterns. service was a bit slow but was a very busy night so cant blame them. probably the best value meal of the trip

monday:
brunch at the bar room at the modern: really just wanted an excuse to try the caviar hot dog – very tasty and the components worked very well but was not worth the price haha

early dinner at carbone: ordered the clams, caviar burrata, and spicy vodka rig (duh). my third time visiting (but first for dinner) and was an amazing experience as usual and a great way to close out the trip. their take on clams oreganata with the uni and lardon is so unique and tasty. the caviar burrata was good but nothing special and not worth the price. the vodka rigatoni remains one of my favorite pastas – i know it has its haters but it cannot be beat imo

looking forward to my next visit!

Did you feel full, ever? The plates are so stingy. LOL at the lonely single piece of chicken.

Wow what a packed weekend you did great. This also just reminded me that I haven’t been to Jeju noodle since 2019 and I need to go back. Glad you had a good weekend!

Food posts should have NSFH (not safe for hungry) tag

Cost of the whole weekend (for food only) if you don’t mind me asking?

I loved your post! I want to see more! I feel like I can taste that chicken leg. Those Spanish peppers omg. I’m in nyc often so I think you inspired me to maybe post my food journeys as well! 🩷 I’m gonna hit up that noodle place!
