Damn dude. Looks like a Japanese soldier on Okinawa.

If the steak wasn’t overcooked it might be alright

you went a little long, by maybe just a few mins. (assuming med rare is the preference)

always remember it keeps cooking AFTER you take it off heat and allow for that. otherwise, nice work. 🙂

I’ve seen worse (in every family barbecue because there’s always a troglodite who thinks a little pink means the meat is raw and bloody).

  5. DontLoseYourCool1

I think it’s good. I like a little crunch here and there.

This steak makes me sad. Having said that, if you enjoyed it then who cares how I feel.

I’d like more pink but i bet it’s still really good

That’s not sear, it’s char. They are 2 different chemical reactions.

Yeah but I only say that because the outside is good but you got so much gray band. Only being constructive not shitting on you at all. Still looks tasty AF

I love a crunchy crust ngl. I fw it even though it’s obviously crisp

How’d it taste? Was it good for you? If so, thats what counts!

  12. Terpcheeserosin

This is what I want when I say medium well

    Yes.

This post is the embodiment of everything wrong with the current Cult of Crust.

Who cares what we think? You’re the one eating it ; did you think it was yummy?

idk I generally try to cook my steaks a little more slowly so they brown evenly was this what you were going for?

  16. If you like , that’s all that matters. To each their own and screw anyone else’s opinion……..

I’ve enjoyed worse slap it on the plate brother let’s eat

  18. Medium well. Would be edible but need sauce. Maybe a horsey or BBQ. I wouldn’t hesitate to slap it between 2 slabs of garlic toast…

  19. Wee_Woo_25

I’m just impressed you managed to get only medium well with that level of sear, very impressive and honestly I’d eat it

  20. Steak cooking is about balancing the tradeoff between sear and interior rareness*. I love a very hard sear, but I also love a very rare interior. If this were my steak, I would say that it’s been seared too hard and overcooked the center.

But that’s just my opinion! If you like your steak cooked more, then maybe this is great for you! Don’t let some internet strangers tell you what to like.

*Advanced cooking techniques, like reverse searing or sous vide, help fix this problem by separating the interior cook and the sear into separate processes. But even a simple sear-only technique can get a better trade-off by cooking on extremely high heat.

For me, it’s perfect in every way.

  22. Dont listen to those acting like its the end of the world because it came out medium well, but yes, its a little too dark and shouldve been pulled a cpl min earlier. I’m sure it was still delicious, make the correction next time and itll be fantastic

  23. I love when this sub randomly pops up on my feed and people are losing their minds in the comments.

Personally, I think this looks delicious.

  24. inflatableje5us

tbh i like a heavy sear, it is a little over done but id eat it.

im also fat, so there is that.

  25. gsbudblog

Slight overcook but still quite edible. I dont mind the sear here

Why do you care what we think? What do you think?
