Just got an rib eye in the local all you can eat, but it was a special experience if I have to explain this. Anyone knows what I’ve eaten?

Lava rock…. or how my grandmother used to cook steak?

It looks like burnt chocolate cake

I have never seen that before, and would not have eaten it. Doesn’t look like it’s from a tenderizer (though I don’t have much experience with that).

Perhaps this steak was frozen and thawed improperly? Bacteria can also cause voids in meat, but I suspect it would have tasted and smelled foul if that was the case.

That, sir, is a Grade A Prime Sponge. It is cooked to a nice “medium” as requested. Bon appetit!
