I have been researching about Mediterranean diet for some time now.

I'm interested to know the experience of someone who has followed this diet with Indian food and recipes.

Since north Indian cuisines are generally high in saturated fat and spices, how to make it compatible with the guidelines of Mediterranean diet?

Are there any restaurants in India who serves Mediterranean diet compatible food?

I have written this blog post, any tips/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

Afaik there’s nothing against spices in the MD. Lots of Indian food should go quite well, especially if you use brown basmati rice – many dishes are rich in varied vegetables and legumes.

Not sure about your question specifically, but last week I added a bowl of palak paneer to my Mediterranean spread and it was an amazing combo.

Just eat fruit, veggies, whole grains, limit red meat and use olive oil while cooking instead of butter or ghee.

Don’t use an abundance of salt and you’re fine. MD diet does not encourage lack of flavor. Please use spices lol

I make Indian food all the time. I stick to legume dishes, mostly, and use olive oil. I omit heavy creams and stick to yogurt. Coconut is … okay… in moderation I would think. I also like to sneak as many veggies into my curries as I can – spinach, cauliflower, peas, kale are all good. And I serve it with brown rice.
