First time in a long time cooking a rib eye over charcoal. How’s it look? It tastes very good!

For most people in this sub it’s overcooked (me included). But at least the sear looks nice…

  2. CrunchyNippleDip

never seen such thick cuts of beef jerky before

  3. GroundbreakingEar450

I’d maybe throw the rest of that in a croc pot with some veggies and cook it on high for 8 hours.

Definitely on the well side of medium well but to each their own, if you enjoyed it that’s all that matters!

For me, it’s over cooked as fuck. I like a medium or medium rare.

What was your process and what were you aiming for?

  7. Although the people in this sub are against steak beyond medium rare, I have to say that a ribeye is gonna be tasty even at medium well. I come from a family who only eats well done steaks, and I would have loved to have a taste of this ribeye as long as the seasoning was good.

That’s perfect for me! I know majority rules in this sub and they lean more toward medium and lower but this temperature right here is my jam.

If that’s how you like it then that’s all that matters really- 😜

As long as you liked it but for me at least that is way over. Its much tender and juicier if you keep it pink.

  11. Looks good to me. I’m pretty flexible with how much it’s cooked.

This kind of gives me mixed feelings because I actually have a hard time with the texture of steak that isn’t rare. Like, my body does not want to swallow it. My body would not want to swallow that… but that char looks so nice that I know I’d try anyway and then sit at your table endlessly chewing because I’m afraid I’ll gag if I swallow. Please tell me that those lovely crusty bits were as satisfying as they look. Let me live vicariously through you.

If you zoom in, enhance, and squint, you can see a little essence of pink left in there.

Like shoe leather, but I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I’d say kill it with fire, but that’s been done well already.

Glad you enjoyed, that’s all that really matters 😉

That’s not well done, that’s congratulations

  17. Ribeyes can take being overcooked a good amount, like getting around 140°f. These seem to have easily gone closer to 160°f.

It’s all good though. Just gives you an excuse to eat more steak to get it right next time.

It’s definitely more cooked than I would enjoy. But if you liked it, then it’s good 👍

  19. Sear looks great. Little overcooked for my taste. But, you cooked for you. And that plate has plenty of juices.

If you’re happy with it, then it looks great

  21. You’re gonna get roasted harder than that shoe on your plate, but take it as constructive criticism and ignore the haters.

At a restaurant? I’d send it back. Being served this at a friend’s house? Thanks for your generosity, looks (and from your comments, tastes) great!

    It tastes very good!

    That’s all that matters!!

Medium well but still juice , fair enough .

Next time do the EXACT same thing, but cut each step by 30 sec or a minute actually. Possibly 2! And just trial and error. You have a great starting career as your own personal home chef!! Keep at it.

Looks awesome! I personally like rare but It still looks fantastic! 10/10

  27. LulzyWizard

It’s cooked all the way to “congratulations.” Glad you still enjoyed it tho

  28. IgnoranceIsYou

Unpopular opinion but I like steak cooked this way

  29. PuzzleheadedWalrus88

Everyone is saying that it’s overcooked but I think it’s perfect! I like my steak well done, idk why everyone’s obsessed with undercooked meat.
