I use a dehydrator though, I didn’t find just spinning the bowl to be very effective

I like to dehydrate them along with garlic, and turn them into powder. I can’t think of many things I would want spicy that I wouldn’t want to also be garlicky and delicious.

I’ve dried habanero before. It is also something you can find in-store, although not common. I don’t have a dehydrator so I slice them in half and throw into a baking sheet in the oven at low temp until they are dried.

I did the classic hang them from a string in a window to try to be like an old abuela in an adobe, but I don’t live in the desert, so while they did dry, they were a bit discolored and I didn’t try eating them lol. Looked cool though which is really all I cared about.

Chili peppers I string up and dry, for use in things, others I pickle and use as is.

I usually throw a batch on the smoker for about an hour before I dehydrate and crush them. I keep a shaker at work and a shaker at home. All the heat heads at work that have tried it like it. The reaper one lights people up sometimes but I warn everyone.

Have a good harvest this year. Get us thru the winter. I’m excited. Bucket of fire I think it was called. One step higher than jalapeno. Frozen them on the spot no drying

i smoke them on the bbq and then put them in the dehydrator when we have too many. ive got like 3 fermented hot sauces going, made sambal, pickled a bunch and have tried to give away as many as possible. still got plenty. looking for more ideas. might candy some.

Did my first batch of the year last night in fact. Cayenne, Habanero, Scotch Bonnet, Ghost, and Reapers.

Dehydrator overnight. Then will grind them with a coffee grinder.

Yes dehydrator, then food processor, then sift out the seeds. Boom, pepper dust for a year!

I use a dehydrator. You might want to do it in a garage or something tho, if your eyes or throat are sensitive. The air get a bit spicy with good habaneros or anything hotter.

    great video btw, hypnotic.

I dry the peppers I grow. Mostly habaneros. Yes, you can definitely dry those! I grind them up and put them on almost everything.

Snip the tips and stem caps off until theyre open at both ends. Put them on aluminum foil in a low oven until they crackle when you squeeze them between your fingers

I usually ferment mine for sauce or salsa.

Drying is a pretty expensive process unless you live in a hot environment and have a drying rack.

Yes I regularly dry habaneros in the oven for a few hours at low temp to make powder.

  16. dustoff1984

I put mine in my air fryer in the oven mode at the lowest temperature for a few hours. It dries the peppers out great

That’s how I dry them. The old “spin in the mixing bowl then don’t let them dry” trick.

  18. Jasonking955

Yes! I bought a “dehydrator” especially for this. Work fine but it takes a lot more time than I expect. (20-24h at 150)
I then grind them and use the powder in sauce, on pasta… anywhere where you want so spiciness.
