A couple of weeks ago I heard about this dish. I loosely followed this recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/chicken-yassa-senegalese-braised-chicken-with-caramelized-onions-5215703
- I added ginger as a few recipes I saw had it
- I added the marinade to the sauce
- I added an extra chili to the marinade as the batch of habaneros I got didnβt seem that hot
- I used olive oil
- out of laziness I used a tried chili in the braising liquid
- I blended up onion, ginger, garlic, and the peppers to make the base of my marinade and skipped lime since I didnβt have any
- I added an extra onion π
- I used bone-in thighs
- I did the braise in the oven to save room on the stove
On my plate: leftover lentils, white rice (lentils balance it out), kale braised with onion, garlic, ginger, a splash of chicken broth, and chiles arbol since I had them.
It all turned out yummy. Note this dish wasnβt very spice as I prepared it. Just a bit of background heat – spice based on your palette but donβt be afraid of the scotch bonnet.
I threw in a pic of my finished pan!
