Almost never – steakhouses like the ones near me (Four Charles Prime, Luger, and so on) have dibs on the best beef in the world – top 1% of the top 1%. Add to that broilers that can’t get to the temp most can at home, specific butters, salts, and so on. Theres no way you could make something better for the most part

Depends on the steakhouse. Usually I prefer home, but Keen’s Steakhouse is like heaven on Earth. And, it’s the only place I know of where I can get mutton.
elBuddhaGuanaco
I prefer the steak you make at home… 🤣
megatronmister
Ever since perfecting the Prime Rib I have zero desire to ever pay for steak at a restaurant when I can make a bigger better steak at home for 1/5 the price

If we’re talking about a truly high-end steakhouse, then absolutely not, especially if we’re taking into account side dishes and dessert.

I hardly ever order steak at a restaurant. Steak is something that I can cook well and easily at home. I usually order things that are a pain in the ass to cook at home.

You gotta go to better steakhouses.

I never order steak. I can make it better at home.
This is always the case for me. Have a nephew who said mine was the best he ever had—it was just butter-basted with rosemary and thyme.

It makes me a lot pickier where I go if I want a good steak.
cattabliss
I only order slow roasted prime rib at restaurants for this reason..

Steaks are one of the easiest things to cook ever. Those taters look good AF too.!

I think one of biggest dining mistakes was ordering a steak at a high end Italian restaurant

This same old topic again? This steak looks ok. But it’s pretty thin, probably choice at best, and the only sear on it is from burnt pepper.

Cheaper too

9/10. But I’m too poor to go to a legit steakhouse so ….

Even though I make a great steak, if I do fast so myself. I still prefer a steak from one of my favorite restaurants over cooking one at home.
mroncnp
Yes, better and cheaper

Hands down the steaks at home are the best. The quality gap is in the sides. My sides game is decent but still short of a restaurant.

I worked in a steakhouse for years (family owned, not chain) and have cooked probably thousands. My family also raises cattle and I can get a whole cow anytime I want, soooo I’m pretty biased lol I do try different rubs, cooking methods, and what not, so not everything is a success but I basically refuse to buy a steak at a restaurant. When I go out to eat I always try to find something I don’t really see anywhere else or maybe have some kind of special sauce that gets my attention. Why go out and get a basic burger if they have something unique?
Im_Ashe_Man
I prefer the price!

I only order steaks from specifics restaurants in my area. Essentially, only special occasions. Otherwise, I prefer my own steaks. The price of the steaks is a huge factor.

Always!
Depends. Sometimes I fuck it up pretty bad, and wish I’d just gone to Longhorn.
I don’t order steaks in a restaurant because they will never be as good.
Gorgeous. And yes. Example:
