Priya Krishna reviewing Bungalow seems like a decent preview of the direction the dining section is heading toward in the post-Pete Wells era, for better or for worse. Each section slowly transitions from journalism to personality-led lifestyle brand.

I was gonna comment hard on rich out of town kids and their opinions, but then I double checked and the Hungry City NYT writer I was going to recommend went to Punahou in Hawaii. Is noone in food media normal?

Can’t we just get a normal, talented, local food writer?

I’d rather have the dude who hustles his parents’ Chinatown butcher shop.

I literally don’t give a fuck what some rich kid from Houston has to say about NYC, other than her opinions about Indian cuisine are fine and I’m sure this particular review is fair, but I absolutely hate her NYT youtube content and she comes off like an inexperienced silver spoon. I’m betting their reviews are a revolving door of staff hanger ons until they find a voice that works. If so, pointless rant, other than a demand for normalcy.

Wow I came here to comment that Priya Krishna rated her first restaurant as 3 star maybe a little bit hasty because it’s a high bar, there’s only 66 three star restaurants and Four 4 star restaurants in the city, but all these weird takes about her are INSANE!!

She’s an accomplished food writer, chef and been writing for the Times for years. I do love her YouTube content and I’ve learnt so much I did not know before. Times are changing (pun intended) and I think Priya Krishna’s style of writing reflects that.

Jesus Christ people, she’s just an interim critic. It says it right there at the top. You can cool it.
