Somewhat inexplicably, number one lost its star. The rumour is it's because of a change of head chef and the politics along with it. Yet it, quite rightly, has won plaudits from many others.

As always, everything is excellent, service, food, wine, decor, ambience etc etc etc. Possibly the strongest whole menu I've ever had there

In particular the tomato and the sweet bread were superb. We got both the tasting and prestige wine flights, simply because then you get to taste more. All were delicious but for both the sweet bread and three strawberry dessert both wines were distinctly different approaches to compliment the food and I always find it fascinating see the skill of the sommelier as a layman. As an example for the strawberry, the tasting wine was refreshing and light, and the prestige was right and deep.

Shall return again as the season changes

  1. Care to elaborate on the politics?

That price seems to be very good value for what you get.

Head chef left to start the restaurant at glenturret and now has two. Surprised it’s not got one back but don’t know the ins and outs
