Looking for a nice spot for a date night. We’re looking for a place that has great desserts, especially slices of cakes or pies. My wife loves chocolate cakes, and I could go for a slice of cheesecake, or some kind of blueberry or apple pie. Ideally this place would have good coffee/tea.

The photos in this post are of a spot I went to years ago in Tokyo, which is just an example of what I’m looking for. Any suggestions would be great, don’t care what borough. Thanks!

I always enjoyed Martha’s Country Baker, it’s fun to get multiple slices and try and rate each item

Jumping on this to ask a question I’ve had: anyone know the etiquette of going to upscale restaurants just for dessert?

Gage & Tollner has amazing dessert, and I’m curious about the dessert at bar bete

These are all places with cute date vibes:

4 Charles or Monkey Bar: Chocolate pie is unbelievable.
    Buvette: Creme brulee
Lingo (less romantic): Mille Feuille, great ice cream.

You can go to any nice restaurant and just get dessert coffee.

Petee’s pies has the best pies. I did a pretty extensive taste-test for my wedding and they were the winner.

What kind of vibe are you looking for?

I love taking people to Petee’s, LES location. Takeaway pie slices and homemade ice cream, and if you ask they’re cool about bringing a bottle of bubbles (or whatever) and posting up on their table with slices and bubbles.

One of my favorite date suggestions but I’m a sucker for pie and champagne.

Try the dessert tasting menu at Chikalicious! There’s an optional wine pairing as well. 👅

Veniero’s. Loads of tables to sit at, beautiful old school atmosphere, and so many dessert options.

  16. Prince Tea – the desserts won’t be as decadent.
Mia’s Bakery- in Brooklyn is great – they have an outdoor patio outside in the back with trees.
Pâtisserie *Fouet* – Japanese French Dessert spot.

Surprised no one mentioned Hungarian Pastry Shop while talking about cafe vibes. Only open until 8:30pm though

If you want outstanding cakes and a robust assortment of them then the only answer is Mia’s bakery on Smith St Carroll Gardens brooklyn ! Highly recommend their coconut cake and brooklyn blackout cake.

Prince tea house in the east village is probably good for this

Patisserie Tomoko in wburg. They do a wine and dessert pairing and can also do a 3 course prix fixe menu. The vibe is cozy and romantic. You also get to watch the bakers make the desserts in front of you

Years ago there used to be a cute diner across the street called Jimmy’s. I used to get a fried chicken dinner there and then cross the street to Tomoko for dessert. Date night or solo, it was always the right move.

RIP marble dessert bar and their tasting menu

Used to like Serendipity 3 but haven’t been in ages so wondering if they’re still good.

  27. Corner Bar! The salted chocolate cake is amazing as are the sorbets. Grab a spot at the bar, order some amaro with dessert too
