    It’s usually cured with celery juice which has nitrates, which is what is used in curing. It’s like saying no salt added, seasoned with sea water

    This is always a good topic and a peeve of mine. But Chowhound’s (I didn’t know they still existed) point #2 is bogus. This post was an open-ended non-sequiter.

    A different source for this topic, one that knows the truth, would have been more appropriate.

    Don’t editorialize an external article’s topic.

    EDIT: My mistake. I scrolled past the original article without reading and into another article which contradicts the original article (shame on them! Make up your minds Chowhound!).
