This is my first time in the Philippines and it’s been 10 years since my wife been back home. She has been telling me the culinary scene and country have change a lot. Toyo Eatery has been on our radar for the last 3 years and it’s the most talked about restaurant and well known restaurant in the Philippines. It also has been known as the best restaurant in the country, obviously since we are here we got to book it.

Reservations: I will be honest it’s my wife who did the reservation but from my understanding they release the dates only 3 weeks ahead through tock. We book the 8pm reservation, as the 1st seating was at 6.30pm( Kamayan dinner)

We stayed at BGC and took a Grab and was late. I thought it would take about 30 -45 minutes but was so wrong…my 1st lesson in Philippines. You should never underestimate the traffic 😂 😂😂.
Thankfully the restaurant was understanding and hold on to our table.

So to the main event, when we arrive we were seated at our table. The space was modern and minimalist kinda reminds me the house in the movie (Parasite). The FOH was very friendly and attentive throughout the service.

Every dish that was drop on the table has a story and was explain throughly on how the dish was source and prepared. Every dish was a representation of a Filipino dish but was created in their own way. Everything was well presented and delicious.

Conclusion: we really enjoyed the dinner as everything was very laid back. Observing the chefs they were laughing and having fun, while also plating the food at the pass. The restaurant is not fine dining but was more casual. Which we enjoy and start seeing more restaurants move away from traditional fine dining with table cloth.
We would definitely recommend Toyo eatery to anyone visiting Philippines and anyone living there.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to post all the photos on this post but it is on my instagram. I will also be checking out both Helm by Josh Boutwood and Gallery by Chele. Below is the link to my instagram, feel free to follow and see the other restaurant we visit.

Wow this looks amazing. I’ve been wanting to hear more about this place, so I thank you for it. I love some pinoy foods so I would really like to try their elevated form.

Went last year and really enjoyed it as well . Liked Metiz as well , thought Gallery by Chele was very disappointing.
