A restaurant that I think deserves as much credit as its 2 starred friends in Dublin – D’Olier Street (… on D’Olier Street!)
At a price point of €118 for the tasting menu, it clocks in at one of the cheaper starred options in Dublin, yet certainly delivered for the price point, including more ‘premium’ ingredients that I could imagine being an added supplement in other restaurants like caviar and (my favourite dish) the foie gras custard (slide 4).
It’s rare in a meal of 13 ‘courses’ that every one delivers but I couldn’t really find a dish I thought was just average. All the snacks were packed with immense flavours, and offered a warmup punch to the senses to start the meal. The mains; halibut and lamb, were each beautifully cooked and complemented perfectly by sauces/sides.
And honestly for someone who usually isn’t concerned with superb service, I was thoroughly impressed. Some of the most attentive staff I have been served by, with a busy room they still managed to find someone waiting to pull my chair out every time I went to the bathroom and came back. Every movement had rhythm and grace when it came to placing and removing dishes/glasses from the table. Every staff member was capable of explaining the dishes with a high degree of precision and detail, so I really can’t fault the experience!
Definitely check this place out when you’re in Dublin, I really only have positive things to say!

Thanks for the review. I was thinking about making a reservation for here when we’re home for Christmas. Only chef counter availability for the night I’m looking at though.
Chapter One would be the first choice, but I think it’ll be closed that night.
