Since coming to the Philippines, we have 3 restaurants we wanted to try. Toyo Eatery, Helm and gallery. Helm is our 2nd restaurant and we ate there for Lunch on Friday. Our reservation was at 11.30am and we were the 1st guest. We were the only guest other than a table of 6 that got there later at 1pm.

Service: we had the 12 course tasting menu, and the theme was street food. Every dish that came out was a representation of a street food most of us would know, but if you didnโ€™t know the chefs themselves would explain it as they themselves was preparing the food right in front of you and explaining it as they present it. From my experience in Thailand Helm reminded me of Gaggan but more refine and less theatrical and more forcus on the food. The chefs was dress in all white reminding me of a classic European Kitchen without the set up of traditional kitchen that has gas stove. It is an open kitchen and you can see everything on how everything is being prepared with laser forcus.

My personal favourites was the ceviche, beef paras and taho course. Of course everything still tasted good even the bread course with 4 different butter and every dish tasted familiar that was a form of street food that we had. The end of service we were really full so come hungry as all the small course adds up. Even though it was a 12 course it felt more like a 15 to 18 with the addition of Amuse, palate cleaner and petit 4.

Conclusion: it was a great experience and I would do it again when they change the theme of the menu. It was the most expensive compared to toyo and Gallery but it had the most food and techniques and thought on each course. Definitely check out helm if you have the budget$$$$ and in the Philippines.

Is that a star-shaped churro in the final picture? If so, that’s a lot of skill there.
