Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Showing limes, green apples, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, minerals and black pepper.
Spicy finish with bitter almonds.
This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc From the Loire Valley in France. Rich and elegant. Much more buttery than I expected it to be.
Still young and needs at least 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. I had the 2014 not too long ago, and it was even better.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Good by itself or with food.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$200.

Super cool label art and font. This wine looks like its soundtrack was composed by Dead Can Dance or Tangerine Dream.

I had the same vintage recently, similar tasting notes (although it didn’t strike me as buttery).
Overall, I’d still say it was a big disappointment and definitely didn’t live up to the hype. At that price point you can buy the very best of Steiermark and I don’t really think the Silex plays in the same league. Maybe it’s different for older vintage.
