For me, they lived up to their reputation. This was some of the best broth I’d had at an NYC ramen shop. Folks that are used to thick chashu in their tonkotsu might be put off by the almost deli-thin slices of pork that Tonchin uses, and they’re not as tender, but everything else was so good that I didn’t care that much.
Was craving a quality turkey sandwich and some old posts from this sub recommended them. Great stuff, even if [today’s particular special](https://i.imgur.com/fUaYJgO.jpg) didn’t blow me away the way that something with, say, bacon and cranberry sauce would have. Also, $10 for a full-size hero in SoHo seemed quite reasonable.
This is their “Prime”, which is roast beef, horseradish cheddar, sautéed onions and tomato with chipotle aioli in an onion pocket. Listen, it’s great. It’s just really freaking heavy and indulgent. Unless I were feeling like an absolute glutton, this is something that I’d personally eat over, like, two or three days.
These are the dandan noodles with chicken. If you’ve been here, then you know what this place is about. If you haven’t, grab some cash and get there ASAP. A bowl of noodles with their house chili sauce and that dark vinegar they have hits the fucking spot.
Wanted to wipe away the memory of a lackluster breakfast burrito at Sofia’s Kitchen in the WV, so I came here. This was fantastic. You gotta get it with their halal bacon, though, makes all the difference. Exceptional coffee too. This is a real Astoria gem.
Just a reminder that, if you have a craving for Veselka and don’t wanna deal with the lines, you could do a lot worse than visiting their outpost at Grand Central, which, despite its location, isn’t nearly as busy. Same recipes, same good stuff, as far as I could tell.

This here is a sandwich of egg and havarti, using one of their scallion pancakes as buns, with “ginger deluxe” sauce. You’ll never forget your first.
