I ordered their special strawberry matcha drink and a yuzu doughnut. $20.

The doughnut was alright. Kinda buttery? The crumb and the icing didn't really work together.

The drink however was annoying. They lacked a few ingredients like the strawberry and beet powder, so I just ended up getting matcha with cream (which normally costs $7, but which I still paid a $3 premium). It tasted very good, sure, but I didn't like getting screwed like that.

They have a nice locale and everything. Outdoor seating too. Totally recommend, but I would also ask them about ingredients ahead of time since it’s very bad to run out of your single special drink’s stuff at 10am.

  2. The regular matcha there is pretty tasty though it’s an afterthought for me now that Sorate is open nearby. Still solid

Matchaful’s baked goods are generally pretty mediocre. And their drink quality is largely dependent on who makes it. A lot of their thing is ~vibe~.

If you actually want consistently good matcha, go to Kettl on Bowery or in Greenpoint. Or, when Ippodo reopens their NYC location, go there.
