  1. Château Le Gay Pomerol 2004, Bordeaux

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Great nose with red and black fruits, cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, black pepper and black tea.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, currants, vanilla, cola, cedar, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and earth.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 20 year old Merlot from Bordeaux. Nicely balanced with a nice, soft mouthfeel. Rich and elegant with nice complexity.

Easy drinking and needs an hour of airtime to open up properly.

The 2004 was not a good vintage, but it is showing really well now.

    Robert Parker 93 points.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with foods like game meats.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.

    13.5% alcohol by volume.

    92 points.

    $220.

Worth 220? I’ve wanted to try this wine but your review is somewhat lukewarm
