Totally delicious, ready immediately on the pop-n-pour even though it’s clear it could age a little while. For those unfamiliar, this is a wine from the Beaujolais region in France, where they make wines using the Gamay grape. Côte de Brouilly (and Morgon, which I mention below) are both specific “crus” or basically villages within Beaujolais.

My second wine from this producer and great to try relatively soon after the same vintage of their “Bellevue” Morgon (link to that post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/wine/s/SXr47S8iLU)- the same style of winemaking was clearly there (closer to a “Pinot-like” gamay, juicy full fruit and earth tones, not really “candied” at all, present velvet tannin, a bit more ripe and rounded than the “punchy” candied style of other Bojo producers, and yet still clearly Gamay.)

I enjoyed it just as much as that Morgon, right at this stage. The Morgon showed higher-quality fruit and more aging potential with denser structure, but this Côte de Brouilly was a touch more “complex” right now and was a bit friendlier too. A big burst of spiced blackberry and tart raspberry together here, really running the gamut on the color spectrum, plus a hefty dose of earthy tones. Reminded me of dank, dark forest soil, autumn leaves, maybe almost nutty, but these kinds of notes can so easily overpower the fruit in a wine like this- not even close, here. The fruit sang brightly right over the top of that earthy character, and it was gorgeous. Pretty much the exact same flavors on the palate, with vibrant, integrated acidity and very stealthy, silky tannins that only show up long after you’ve swallowed a sip. Really into this- I can definitely see how Bouland has a following.

Sounds great! Do you happen to know if the glass is the Grassl Cru?
