My first visit to Miru was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the attention to detail and commitment to quality that defines this restaurant. Having heard that they fly in fresh fish daily, my anticipation was high, and the evening did not disappoint. Every dish was a testament to their dedication to excellence.

I began with the Tuna Crispy Rice, a dish that perfectly balanced a delightful crunch with creamy, melt-in-your-mouth tuna. It set the stage for what would be a remarkable culinary journey.

One of the evening’s standout dishes was the Salmon & Truffle. The freshness of the salmon paired with the earthy richness of truffle and a bright, citrus-infused sauce made this dish truly exceptional. Each bite was an explosion of flavor that lingered long after the plate was cleared, quickly becoming one of my favorite experiences of the night.

Then came the Hamachi Ponzu, a dish that surprised and delighted me. I had never tasted anything quite like it before. The roll was topped with ponzu jelly—a unique addition that provided a satisfying, squishy texture and a burst of tartness that complemented the roll beautifully. It was a flavor experience unlike any other, adding yet another layer of depth to the meal.

The Triple Tuna was another highlight. The combination of Chutoro, Otoro, and Akami, each piece tender and impeccably fresh, was elevated by a subtle garlic crunch. The flavors were so well-balanced, and the quality of the tuna truly shone through. It’s a dish I would gladly return for.

The Miru Rainbow was yet another revelation, featuring a harmonious blend of Akami, Salmon, Hamachi, and Kanpachi. Each fish brought something unique to the table, creating a symphony of flavors that was as visually stunning as it was delicious.

In between these show-stopping dishes, I also enjoyed the Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon rolls. They served as excellent palate cleansers between the more complex flavors, each roll executed with precision and care.

As the meal drew to a close, the desserts took center stage. The Black Sesame Mochi was one of the most unique desserts I’ve ever encountered. Its sponge base soaked up the intricate flavors, while the ice cream and mochi on top provided a delightful contrast of textures. It’s a dessert that’s difficult to put into words—you simply have to try it to appreciate its complexity.

The Calamansi Crème Brûlée was another highlight. I’ve had my fair share of crème brûlées, but this one stands out as the best. The usual sweetness was expertly balanced by a tart lemon purée, creating a perfect harmony of flavors that was both refreshing and indulgent.

Finally, the Triple Chocolate Gateau was a chocolate lover’s dream. With three distinct layers of chocolate, each offering its own rich flavor profile, it was the perfect way to conclude an unforgettable meal.

Dining at Miru was made even more special by the ambiance. We arrived at 9:30 pm on a Saturday and were treated to a breathtaking view of the Navy Pier fireworks from the outdoor patio. It was a magical moment that added an unforgettable touch to an already exceptional evening.

Without a doubt, Miru has left a lasting impression. It’s a place that not only meets but exceeds expectations, offering an experience that I’m eager to repeat. I will definitely be back.

I will say it’s quite pricey and I’ve added the bill as a picture so you have an idea of how much everything cost, but it is definitely worth it if you love sushi + ambiance. Consider it for an occasion for sure.

I would rate it a solid 9.5/10.

Note: I wasn’t able to add pictures of some of the rolls and dessert as I took videos of them and not pictures. Reddit doesn’t seem to let me add videos and pictures together. Hence you’re only seeing some of the rolls.

DISCLAIMER: Before people try to start roasting me asking how are the pics and lighting so good etc. There were already table lamps on every table and I also brought my own mini table lamp for lightning which was very subtle and blended right in with the other table lamp already on the table provided by the restaurant. Also my reviews seem to be pretty long and informational because I enjoy food and reviewing it. I am not paid or sponsored in any way shape or form by Miru. I simply enjoy the entire process of receiving the food, taking pictures of the food and reviewing food from start to finish.

Thank you, have a blessed day!!!
