Manicotti are a much-loved baked pasta in our family, but in this case I use crespelle instead of fresh pasta to envelop the ricotta stuffing, resulting in a delightfully delicious, lighter version. Crespelle, Italian crêpes, are one of the most versatile recipes in the kitchen. You can use them shredded in soups, layered in lasagna, stuffed and rolled in manicotti, as I do here, or baked with vegetables and pesto – and if you add some sugar to the batter, you can make endless forms of dessert with them. I like to make a big batch of crespelle—once you get going, they are done in no time, and you can freeze or refrigerate the extras. For years, I’ve asked myself where the name “manicotti” comes from. Then, one day, I figured it out. When I was in a refugee camp in Trieste, I was enrolled in a Catholic school, and to supplement my tuition I would help the nuns in the kitchen. They wore big aprons, and on their arms, to protect the sleeves of their habits, they had tubes made out of white cloth with elastic edges on both sides. These sleeves covered their arms from wrist to elbow, and they were called “manicotti”; hence the name of tubular stuffed pasta that we now know as manicotti.

They are making sure all available charges are imposed. He is 58 and I doubt he will be released before he is 88.

I drove a 1953 Manicotti.
Absolutely delicious.
Is this like a crepe???
The very first Italian dish I made, 10 years old, I watched Julia Childs, make this exact traditional manicotti , it was delicious! My family was amazed, if I could do it at 10 years old, anyone can do it! I make it this same way to this day, 56 years later. Thank you for your videos!
Yummy! And when you pushed that bite onto the fork with your finger? Well, Ms. Lidia, that is one of a million lil reasons why we loooove you❣️❣️❣️
I have just enough ricotta left over after making your Italian meatloaf that I think I’ll make this to go along with it. Perfect!
Mum made many of these growing up. We knew it as cannelloni, and with four boys they went quick! Also love the meat filled variety. 🤤🙂
Looks amazing!

Looks Amazing!! I miss your marinara sauce in the stores. I make my own, but you nailed it in the jar. ❤️😎✌🏻
Where can I get the measurements?
That looks delicious. My mother and I miss Lidia's beloved, dear mother. She was great seeing on the show.
Where do u ask Lidia a question?❤❤
Growing up, my uncle made it this way. I was always disappointed ordering it In restaurants as they always made it with pasta shells. So I make my own with crepes and there's nothing better.!
I made manicotti with the store bought shells. It took me forever. I made it for my grandparents.
Thanks for the nice video
Yummy 😊
