After chatting with the OP of the Miami Pavlova they encouraged me to go ahead and post my pavlova and I thought I’d share what happened for those of you very confused by today’s drama.

Yesterday, @captanzissou posted a Miami pavlova and I attempted (poorly) to make a joking post with the “real” pavlova but instead it came across like I was shading the original poster. Fair take. So I took it down and apologized. I cannot believe how that post has blown up and I appreciate that everyone has been so kind toward my mistake.

Anyways, back to baking. Here is a picture of my Pavs from this weekend. Our neighborhood women get together every year for a bike ride/wine tour and this year we did an around the world theme. Our group of neighbors took Australia because one of them is from Australia and 2 of their 3 kids were born there. They know I love to bake, and requested I try pavlova. So I did and it was so freaking good that I can’t wait to make it again. It tastes like eating a cloud in the best way possible.

One quick last aside, I was actually introduced to pavlova from a Kiwi (NZ) who lived with us in college. So, I’m not claiming it’s from either place. Just that it’s the best thing I’ve eaten in a while.

That looks delicious! The cake is on the side of New Zealand too, Australian style usually uses passionfruit instead of kiwi

Tbh I learned about pavlova from an old Betty Crocker cookbook and the recipe picture was the light fluffy kind ( similar to yours), so I was very confused by the other post.
I’ve never heard about pavlova having nuts in it or being flat; very interesting to see how recipes change in different locations & learn about new foods

  3. I took like a 24 hour break from Reddit and came back to the apology post and was like “how did so much happen in such a short time…and over *pavlova*!? Would’ve expected it to be over something slightly more controversial like Costco butter!”

Anyways, glad the drama is over, this looks fab and since we’re sharing…I learned about pavlova from GBBO.

Can someone link me to the drama??? I only saw the “pavlova” (not pavlova) and then an apology for that post? But what was the original post?

Try the chocolate pavlova next time. It is great with cream and raspberry to offset the sweetness. Nigella Lawson’s recipe for it is the one I use.

  8. Damn y’all are really milking this pavlova drama
