What is this black spot on my steak?


When I poke the plastic package there it moves around a little bit but seems attached ro the steak.

    could be a blood clot but it also looks like it could be a wad of congealed “black nugget” marinade that could’ve gotten into the package by mistake

    It really looks like a blob of congealed/oxidized blood that just didn’t get rinsed off before packaging. Harmless.

    Just rinse it off before you pat the meat dry and season. If it’s connected, just cut it off and continue.

    lol! Blood clot, we used to call them “boogers”, and fling them other cutter’s white coats, so they made a big ugly blood spot on their back!
