Ordered a Medium rare steak. I know very little about steak in terms of the cut and perfect temp but I know it came out rare. Which I still ate and it was delicious. But my wife thinks I’ll be sick tomorrow for our baby shower because I ate it being too rare. I’m in the clear right?

Its rare and you should be fine.

The issue with raw meat is when its ground. The contaminates on the outside are mixed in.

    Steak gets seared.

Now i wouldnt eat raw steak in 3rd world countries.

Well it’s completely rare except for a sear so yes.

This is blue not rare. But if it was good and you enjoyed it then that’s all that matters

  4. People in here would eat a cow with a fork if they could. I’d pass on this one.

  5. You should be fine but that’s not even close to medium and it’s fucking embarrassing if a professional cook can’t get a steak within 20 degrees +/-. Someone is horrifyingly, dangerously, bad at their job.

That still requires time on the grill to get to rare. Glad you enjoyed it. You should not be sick from a steak prepared in this manner.

It isn’t medium rare or rare. It’s cool blue. Some people like it like that but I don’t care for it

usually when ordering a medium rare at a restaurant you have to worry about them accidentally cooking it well done, not this… Thats a blue rare, I wonder how many seconds it even touched the grill for.

As others have said, you’ll be fine.

The cook is definitely black and bleu and I would eat and enjoy the hell out of it.

Too rare in this case would just be a matter of preference. If it’s not spoiled it should be safe to eat, if that’s the underlying question. For my taste, as long as it’s not cold and it is seasoned and seared I would eat it and only think to myself that I maybe meant for it to be closer to medium rare, the same way I would if I cooked it close to medium well

  11. A little blue for me. But I didn’t eat the steak. If it was right for you, then that’s all that matters.

Will you be fine? Yes. Did I hear the cow moo through my phone? Also yes.

definitely no where near a med rare. i would have sent it back but if you liked it, then no harm done i guess. you won’t get sick from it fwiw

  14. pleasegreen

Not even close to what you ordered, send it back next time.

  15. Very rare meat (like this) will not make you sick, unless it’s somehow been mishandled very badly — in which case, it might still make you sick even if it’s cooked a whole lot more.

I’ll say again what I always say: the only steak that’s “too rare” is a steak that you don’t enjoy eating. If you enjoyed it, it’s not too rare.

It looks like you showed the cow a picture of a hot pan and then ate it alive.

  17. NotAFuckingFed

You’ll be fine. But that was definitely blue lol

this is rarer than rare but my girlfriend loves it this way and she never gets sick. I prefer really rare but not wuite this rare

I love steak and my favourite doneness is medium rare. But I would not eat that. I would send it back. I don’t care if people are saying it’s blue it’s not cooked

  20. KiloAlphaLima

I’d eat it. Looks like the cut was too cold and the pan wasn’t hot enough or it was cooked too long and not brought up to temp. Anyway, you can eat that no problem, it’s a preference thing at that point.

  21. _barbarossa

Tbh it was not properly cooked to order. People do enjoy this, however, and it is not unsafe. If you enjoyed it then that’s all that matter! I prefer rare this is blueu

  22. As Gordon Ramsey would put it

    “It’s f’in raw!!!”

  23. big_jerky-turky

Almost impossible to get sick off a steak because of doneness. As long as you heat the outside you’re money! It’s about preference really. For me don’t like the rare
