**Cucumbers: How long is your late-summer harvest window?**
How long does your cucumber harvest usually last at this time of year, from when you cut the first ripe one until your vines become so slow or damaged that you finally pull them up? For me, the late-summer season has been surprisingly short, only 3 or 4 weeks, and I’m wondering if that is normal. In the early spring, it’s significantly longer, about 6 weeks.
I grow cukes in 10-gallon fabric grow bags in my back yard, two plants per bag, Northeast Texas. Have either 3 or 4 containers of each, which means 6 or 8 vines of each variety.
Currently have Jibai Shimoshirazu, kind of petering out, not setting any new fruit, Armenian cukes still producing well, Beit Alpha about 4 feet tall, just starting to flower this week, and Suyo Long about 3 feet tall, healthy but with no flowers yet.
Have had lots of spotted and striped cucumber beetles. I pick them off by hand twice a day and sometimes spray with a dilute solution of cold-pressed Neem Oil and Castille soap. Only variety to have powdery mildew has been the Armenian, which always seems prone to it. Have sprayed it a couple times with baking soda solution and pruned lots of damaged foliage.
Would be interested in your experience in other parts of the country. I’m in NE Texas with hot, humid days, mostly in the upper 90’s, and warm, humid nights, mostly in the lower 70’s.
Thanks!

I’ve got English cucumbers this year. They started producing in early June, and have been steady all summer. The last week or so has slowed down a bit but I expect to keep getting good ones through mid October.

Keep it watered and ride it till it’s dust. I let my plants rot back to the earth after
Tumorhead
I get about 2 months worth with 1 month going hard and 1 month slow build up before and dwindling after. I only planted one variety one time so adding more would probably expand the season
