One of the most mediocre ramen restaurants in Japan

All ramen look good to me 😆

Friendly advice, don’t eat this mediocre ramen when you actually can get good stuff.

Don’t believe the hype about Ichiran. Also, don’t tell me what to do.

There’s nothing wrong with eating Ichiran, and maybe it’s worth it once.
But the best ramen in Japan is always from a local place. And usually a mom-and-pop type.

It’s still pretty good even though it’s a chain. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat it but for a first timer in Japan, it’s worth the try if you come across one. People just shitting on it bc Reddit loves to shit on anything that’s a chain restaurant and think they’re above it or some shit

Fun fact, we have Ichiran in America.

I’d highly recommend Noseya Ramen right outside of Okubo station. Ate there all the time when still lives in Tokyo. Or Do Miso Hacchibori near Tokyo Station. Both are way better than Ichiran for cheaper.

No don’t believe that. As far as ramen chains go Ichiran is just so-so. There are many other great places that are not chains to choose. Even if we limit ourselves to chains I’d opt for Ippudo or Tenka Ippin instead.

Ichiran? My guy, I have like sixteen of these in New York City along with Ippudo. Like this is some basic first time in Japan stuff. Ichiran is a B+ at best in grand scheme of things.
hyperion_light
Oh no… It’s not bad, but not worth the hype or the lines.
roehnin
Why is this place so popular with people overseas? It’s a so-so chain whose only advantage is giving some privacy from the slurper next to you.

So many comment saying how shit it is but hardly a single comment with a better recommendation?

There are better places to eat ramen

If I hadn’t branched out to trying new ramen, I wouldn’t have found my now favorite ramen house that happened to open a spin-off in my home country. Took my mother to try it, and now it’s a nearly weekly outing for us.
Late night Ichiran in Japan always will have a special place in my heart. You’re doing a wonderful job OP 🫡. People like you make the world a better place.

I don’t eat pork, so Ichiran No Pork is my fave spot to visit.
Savool
Me and my girlfriend loved this place. We bought the boxes to make it back home and although it obviously isn’t the same, it’s still tasty.
Before the people that hate on chains storm in and downvote this, we also tried many other places including local ramen spots and hole in the walls. We liked them /all/.
Owl_lamington
That’s kinda mid here lol. So many better ones around.
YifukunaKenko
Many said it a tourist spot and true locals don’t go there but I mean it’s good enough so tourist spot or not, it’s still worth a visit
sprvlk
Yes. It’s good to try out at least once but that’s it.
BantuShawarma
You can say that about all Japanese food though 😭😭😭. But that ramen does look so good

Ichiran is just way too salty for me. Don’t understand the hype. Also there are much better ramen in Japan. And there are much better food options than ramen in Japan.
uber-shiLL
Don’t go back to my county if I have not tried this ramen that is available in my country….

Buncha ramen gate keeping a-holes always rise up whenever Ichiran shows up.
