I accidently set my volumetrics to a low amount and pulled a shot, it ended way too soon, so I ran it again and increased the pressure (dimmer mod) and it ran at like 3 bar for the rest of the shot. I thought my coffee (and my day) was ruined, but it turned out alright.
When I think about it, the solenoid valve should've sucked the remaining, good, coffee out of the puck when the first shot finished, and running the water again wouldn't really fix that. Did I just skip the middle part of the espresso? It wasn't a great tasting shot by any means, but the fact it's still drinkable surprised me.

In a way you’re probably happy it wasn’t a super tasty shot. Just imagine trying to reproduce these steps 😂.
Your story is a good example of letting go of all the details and go by taste.
Failed successfully! Coffee is more forgiving than we give it credit for, sometimes. Your shot sounds kind of like some of the ultra-modern shot pressure profiles I’ve seen on YouTube from Intelligentsia and other influencers, just give it a fancy name and claim it as a new trend.
